You may have already heard that the Occupy London protestors have taken over an empty building belonging to the banking giant UBS in Sun Street, set up a squat there and turned it into a ‘Bank of Ideas’. Their aim? To attempt to offer an alternative to the government’s response to the financial crisis. Our News editor Rebecca Taylor spent a day with them.
Note: UBS paid $800 million in fines to the US Justice Department (not the $100 million stated here by Bryn Phillips) for an illegal tax scheme that moved the assets of 52,000 wealthy Americans to tax havens.
Take a virtual tour of the Bank of Ideas.
