In the spirit of ‘make do and mend’ shopping, we’ve put together a list of the best Christmas Craft Markets for all those who want to cut down their consumer footprint and still have a jolly old jaunt. Lets face it, any alternative to the West End carnage at this time of year is worth a look in as well.

Christmas Craft Fair and Santa’s Grotto, Sutton House, 3 Dec, 11am-8pm and 4 Dec 11am-6pm
This craft fair promises lively events and masterclasses, mince pies and mulled wine. Oh, and Santa’s grotto for the kids (and the big kids in all of us.)

The Etsy Christmas Grotto, The Trampery, 8 Dec, 6.30-10pm
Bring along unwanted gifts or old favourites that are looking tired and it will get repackaged, redistributed and re-gifted to friends, family or charity for free. It’s a chance to learn to spruce stuff up and recycle, to help pinch the pennies and save the world in the process.
