Uncork at Adnam’s new Cellar and Kitchen

Posted at 5:15 pm, December 3, 2011 in Food & Drink

AdnamsAdnam’s of Southwold is a name more usually associated with the Suffolk brewery’s fine ales, but visitors to the beach-side town can testify they also have and excellent wine shop (they also have a good online wine store). They’ve now opened a shop in Bloomsbury, near Goodge Street tube, which has the same, rather rustic mix of kitchenware and lots of bottles of excellent booze. They also have a second shop in Spitalfields. There are of course tastings and local delivery, but we’re most excited by their innovative way of getting you to try the wines. If you but a bottle in the shop, you can retire to the appealing (and currently very quiet) basement lounge bar to drink it – with no corkage charge, mark-ups, or added costs, just for the retail price of the wine. Bottoms up!
