Why eat pre-packed and store-bought mince pies when you can have them baked by a top chef? The Mince Pie Project – a charity event – is auctioning off batches of 50 mince pies, freshly baked by 36 UK food heroes, who will each be making their own distinctive recipe. Ashley Palmer Watts (head chef at Dinner by Heston Blumenthal), will be creating deep-fried versions, while Anna Hansen of The Modern Pantry cooks hers with sloe gin-soaked sloes. So, if you want your mince pies baked by the likes of Fergus Henderson, Marcus Wareing, Michel Roux Jr or Skye Gyngell, log onto the Mince Pie Project website and start bidding from 9am on December 9. All the money raised will go to the charities Action Against Hunger and the Jamie Oliver Foundation. Anne Faber
