The stars were out in force this afternoon to promote the imminent release of ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’. Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law and Guy Ritchie were joined by franchise newcomer Noomi Rapace and legendary producer Joel Silver for a press conference in the appropriately Victorian confines of One Mayfair. Revelations were thin on the ground – unless you count the dubious news that Downey Jr and Law’s homoerotic onscreen bonding has spread far beyond the frame, leading to them ‘cross dressing for each other’s pleasure’ in forthcoming threequel ‘A Game of Trannies’ – but there was a lot of love in the room, as each member of the team took it in turns to praise the others for their perseverance, creativity and original thinking. Ritchie’s affirmation that he’s ‘still an indie filmmaker’ may come as a surprise to his bosses at Warner Brothers – but as long as they keep him busy directing ‘Sherlock’ movies rather than Cockernee gangster flicks, we wish them all the best.
