You can’t fake the Real Food Christmas Market

Posted at 6:00 pm, December 15, 2011 in Food & Drink

Stuck for original Christmas presents? Head to this 8-day-long Christmas Market at the Southbank Centre Square on 16-23 December, and get some unusual gifts for the food lovers in your life. 40 producers will be offering exciting culinary delights, few of which can be found on any supermarket shelves: think tangy marmalade vodka from Chase Distillery, slow-roasted garlic paste from Karantania Delicatessen and orange and cinnamon nougat from Nougalicious. There’s even a sort of cheese ‘truffle’: flavoured with Himalayan salt, garlic and coated in black pepper, the Belper Knolle is said to work its magic when grated over pasta or risottos. Of course, while it’s the season for giving, there’s nothing wrong with buying a little something for yourself, too. Anne Faber
