Broke after Xmas? Here’s how to celebrate New Year’s Eve on a budget

Posted at 4:15 pm, December 30, 2011 in Music & Nightlife

If you’re feeling a little bit financially constricted after Christmas but still want to see the new year in with a bang. Take a look at these bank balance-friendly events.

Wah Wah NYE Extravaganza
The Big Chill Bar will be playing host to all your favourite Wah Wah 45s residents, as well as Soul Jazz Soundsystem and Tru Thoughts’ Hint. A free night of funk with Brazilian flavours should warm the cockles.

Abattoir the Party NYE Special
Back by popular demand, the Abattoir crew will be throwing a house party to welcome in the new year at the Ladybird Bar. Expect disco, electro, funk, hip hop, techno, dub step, acid, boogie, house and slinky rare grooves – for only £7.

The London Fields New Year’s Eve
90’s dance don Normski, dancehall ‘n’ bass duo Warrior One and dancehall Dubliner Famous Eno will be taking to the decks to light up the Cat & Mutton and The London Fields. Tickets are £10, but that gets you into both venues.

Noise of Art’s Psychedelic Curiosity Show
Expect an immersive clubbing experience with tunes from Ben Osborne, Luca Sanuci, The People Pile and more, plus a carnival of Victorian-style, steampunkesque costumes and magic lanterns bathing Sketch with trippy visuals.
To join the party for free, email to noiseofart@gmail.com with NYE in the title.

New Year’s Eve Partyyy at the Sebright
Two floors of New Years party bangers with music from Barmisfits, Tas Elias and other special guests. The whole evening is free, so get there early as no one will be allowed in after 11pm. The pub will be also giving away free shots at midnight to celebrate the new year. Sounds like a good deal to us.
