I don’t care if you are hungover or tired, this is no time for a lie-in. Today is the start of the brand spanking new 2012 so get up and at em.
Cheer on the parade
Pearly kings and queens, cheerleaders, stars from West End Shows, dancers, acrobats and bands will take to the streets for the London Parade starting at 11.45 at the Ritz. This year’s themes? The Olynpics and Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, of course. Get down early to get a good spot.
Get up close to a stuffed walrus
The Horniman Museum’s overstuffed walrus should really be on the list of London landmarks. This peculiar beast was made by a man who had never actually seen a walrus. Head down south to see this great bit of taxidermy and the rest of the museum’s eclectic collection.
Hang out with Hal at Hampton Court
This palace oozes history (Shakespeare performed and Cromwell lived here), there is a a fountain that occasionally flows with wine and there is a maze. What more could you want?
Have lunch with the penguins
Who doesn’t love penguins? If you haven’t been to London Zoo’s new penguin pool yet, why not go today? There are 65 of the little fellows and you can watch them swim under water. Perfect if you are feeling a tad spaced out.
Flex your grey matter
The Science Museum is the perfect place to stumble around and learn stuff at the same time. With seven floors of educational entertainment, you won’t fail to kick start your brain into action. Sonya Barber
