It’s estimated that 100,000 new people will be squeezed into London every year up to 2016. Where are we going to fit them all? In a brand new super tower of course. When asked ‘what will towers be like in 2050?’, Teatum and Teatum and Popularchitecture came up with a fantastical 1500 metre high structure to combat the capital’s housing problem and explore the idea of how space will be used in the future. The imagined tower would be a whole city contained in a building, with its own parks, public squares, schools, hospitals and property to rent. Everything you need in one single location. Hungry? Just hop on one of the massive vertical transport units (similar to London Underground trains) up to the 320th floor and visit the farmers market. Or if you’re in need of some relaxation, go up to the Alpine garden on the 457th floor. With ideas like this, the future seems closer than ever.
