This was the year that fast food – in particular US classics – took over the streets of London. Food fanatics followed trucks such as Pitt Cue Co and Anna Mae’s around the city wherever they set up. One of our favourites is Abiye Cole’s Big Apple Hot Dogs, mainly found near the fire station in Old Street. He took the much maligned meat tube and turned it into something special (and gave it a London twist with sausages and buns both made nearby). We asked him about the popularity of US food in London and what goes into making his sandwiches so tasty – here’s our video interview with the big dog himself. Euan Ferguson
