Fuck RealPolitik © Nikolai KhalezinHere at Time Out we’re not ones for standing on the sidelines for a story, we like to get stuck in. So when I heard that the Belarus Free Theatre were staging a naked protest in the name of art, I went down yesterday to unearth the, er, bare facts. Shot from above by the prolific theatre photographer Simon Annand, 20 of us stripped down to our birthday suits and formed ‘FUCK REALPOLITIK’ on the cold ground at Riverside Studios on January 19. Co-founder of the theatre group, Natalia Koliada said the images will display a ‘vulnerability of skin on the hard terrace’ to raise an awareness of the absence of morality in politics in Belarus, which is currently ruled under the unjust dictatorship of Alexander Lukashenko. Breasts, chests, penises and other private parts of varying shapes and shades came together for one chilly morning of light-hearted art and serious bonding.
