Plans for slides at tube stations moves a stop closer – sort of

Potential mayoral candidates, take note: an e-petition calling on the government to install slides at all London Underground stations has been rejected – but only on the grounds that the issue is outside government responsibility. The petition, posted on the HM Government website, reads: ‘In order to speed the flow of passengers through busy London Underground stations, slides should be installed in place of elevators. Small prizes should be available for those reaching the bottom in the fastest time.’ A note at the bottom says that the petition has been rejected on the grounds that such issues are dealt with by ‘devolved bodies’ and that it ‘is a matter for the Mayor of London and Transport for London.’ Your thoughts, Boris?
