To mark LGBT History Month, every week throughout February, Gaydar Radio is paying tribute to the heroes and heroines who have helped make gay London what it is today. Gaydar is the biggest name in gay radio, with 488,470 listeners a week, and this week the station is paying tribute to our very own Paul Burston. In an hour long interview, he talks about his early years as an Aids activist (above), his long career as a journalist and novelist and his celebrated gay literary salon, Polari. He also pays tribute to his own heroes and heroines, including fellow gay authors and activists, friends who died during the Aids crisis and not forgetting his dear old mum (below). Burston describes it as ‘a gay ‘This Is Your Life’ crossed with a therapy session’. Hear the full interview on February 6 at 9am and see the filmed interview stream live on the website.
