To celebrate London Fashion Week we asked a selection of top designers to tell us their favourite spots for shopping, relaxing and getting inspired.

Central St Martins graduate Michael Van Der Ham worked with fashion greats Alexander McQueen and Sophia Kokosalaki before launching his own label as part of Topshop’s NewGen scheme. His womenswear collection is wearable and artsy, with collaged prints and fun juxtapositions of colour and pattern.

Shop: Liberty, great new bookstore.

Café: Maison Bertaux, Soho.

Bar: Shoreditch House.

Favourite place to stay when in town: My bed.

What are you looking forward to seeing in 2012? Joanna Newsom in concert.

Hairdresser: Hair Tonic, Stoke Newington, close to where I live.

Treat: Flowers for the house or studio.
