Would you Adam and EveitHackney could become the Somerset of east London, with a new project to plant a mini orchard in a local park. On March 15, local residents and schoolchildren will plant apple, plum, pear and other fruit trees in London Fields. ‘It’s to encourage biodiversity, and promote understanding in local children of nature and growing food,’ says Mike Martin, chair of London Fields User Group, which is organising the planting with Hackney Council. The planting takes place noon-2pm March 15 . (It’s been rescheduled to 1pm-3pm, March 22nd.)  Meet near the Broadway Market entrance.
