At school, learning often felt like a chore, but working every day often makes me crave some new knowledge nourishment. Evening or part-time study requires more commitment and money than I often have, however I’m always on the look out for ways to feed my mind. Feel the same? Allow me to introduce you to Kicktable, a community marketplace where you can pick up new skills, share your talents and discover new interests. Always wanted to know the secret to making perfect pizza, visit an artist’s studio, learn more about coffee and take a tour of east London cocktail bars? These are just a few of the experiences currently up for grabs at the moment and are all run by creative Londoners who want to share their passions.
The sessions are good value and really fun. Last weekend I tried my hand at screenprinting and was shown the tricks of the trade by two lovely chaps in their studio in Hackney Wick. It was a relaxed day of chatting, learning and getting messy and was one of the most productive Saturdays I have had in a long while. Kicktable are also looking for more passionate people to host workshops sharing their skills so get involved. Sonya Barber
