Our brand new mix series, bringing you the freshest sounds of the dancefloor from its best residents, is off to a flying start. Last month, Jack from Friendly Fires and Edwin from Foals formed an indie-techno clusterfuck under the name ‘Deep Shit’ and came up with some sublime deep house. Not deep shit at all, we’ll have you know. And now the Bestival main man himself, Rob Da Bank, has delivered a mix that shows just exactly what his label Sunday Best’s warehouse party will sound like at the Bussey Building in Peckham this Saturday. It takes you from The Beatles to a bangin’ Sebastian remix of that Shoes track ‘Time to Dance’ – you know, the one that has the music video with Jake Gyllenhaal running rampage around Dalston. There’s no slashing hipsters to smithereens on Da Bank’s mix, though, just lovely deep house flecked with UK house, garage, new wave pop and, as usual, a quirky Sunday Best twist in the video game version of The Smiths’ ‘This Charming Man’.
