Have your cake and eat it for a good cause this Sunday (March 25) as Jilly Goolden (of wine sniffing fame) judges the inaugural Great East Dulwich Bake off. The star of ‘Britain’s Best Dish’ will compere the competition which will give all proceeds to The Alzheimer’s Society. The Bake Off is the brainchild of local business women (and cake-lovers) Julia Knight and Lucy Mann, who have added an extra twist to the competition – as well as the traditional ‘Cake’, ‘Biscuit’ and ‘Teatime Treat’ categories, young bakers will have the chance to flex their culinary muscles with a special category for the under-12s, while maverick bakers can present their ‘take-on-a-cake’ in the ‘Freestyle’ category. Doors open at 1.30pm, for viewing and tasting and price includes a cup of tea and a slice of cake. Didi Mae Hand
