Why the Piccadilly line is the best – according to a Piccadilly line driver

‘I love the Pic. I’ve got a real fondness for it. I do tend to get a bit fiery when people say “Oh, the Piccadilly line’s rubbish, it’s a load of shit, you know, the trains are old, they’re falling apart – I say “Whoa whoa whoa, hold on a minute – every time every other line goes up the wall, they’re doing weekend engineering works, what line is always running to carry the burden? The Piccadilly. The premier, perfect Piccadilly.

‘You know, every other line – like the Metropolitan line, it’s a bit brash, it’s like Oh, this is me mate, I’m the Metropolitan line, I go all the way up to Amersham and through the city, yeahhhh and the Circle Line’s “Yeah, you’re nothing mate, I go round and round the city” and all that. I’d say the Central line was probably a librarian, quite sort of “muhhhh, here we are, y’know, West Acton” and that – but the Piccadilly line, if it was a mate of yours, it’d be a mate where you’d say “He doesn’t say a lot, he’s very cool, but when the shit hits the fan, he pulls it out the bag every time. He’s really slick.

‘You look at the trains. You look at the faces of these trains. They smile at you, they’re cute, they’re streamlined, they’re classy – without trying.’
