A Cityread with an Oliver Twist

Posted at 4:30 pm, April 3, 2012 in Arts & Entertainment

Cityread Oliver TwistCityread London is hosting a reading event with a twist- an Oliver Twist to be precise. Kicking off on April 2, the project is bringing Dickens to life for Londoners of all ages. Hundreds of events will be taking place Londonwide and Penguin have even produced a special edition of Oliver Twist books. Expect immersive Dickensian story-telling at iconic museums, pop-up Victorian dinner parties and even readings in the late, great Queen Victoria’s bedroom throughout the month of April. Libraries across the city will be hosting arts, crafts, reading and writing events for children throughout the Easter holidays, while the Hip Hop Shakespeare Company will be rapping with the bard. There’ll also be free cinema screenings of ‘Oliver’, a Dodgy Dickens Family Day at the Museum of Childhood and a distinctly more adult ‘Dinner with Dickens’ at the Clerkenwel Kitchen. Didi Mae Hand
