The Thinking Drinkers’ Guide To Alcohol

You know the drill when going to the theatre: grab a drink at the bar before the performance, head back to the bar during the break, and finish the night at the bar again. Not so at the ‘Thinking Drinkers’ Guide to Alcohol’ at the Soho Theatre April 5-7. Here, you’re actually encouraged to get pissed during the performance. Award-winning drinks experts Ben McFarland and Tom Sandham are hosting a comedy night where it’s all about intellectual elbow-bending. Sit back and sip on six spirits while letting the comedic duo re-tell the history of the world – from an alcoholic perspective. Hear about the boozy influence on historic figures such as Jesus, Plato and Picasso all the way to Hemingway, Churchill and, if there’s time, “Hitler and some old Iraqis”. If you’ve foolishly given up drink for Lent, there’s no more discerning way to fall off the wagon.
