‘La Haine’, Mathieu Kassovtiz’s 1995 film about the struggles of immigrants living in Parisian suburbs continues to resonate more than 15 years after its release. The Other Cinema is putting on two special community screenings of the film in response to last year’s riots on the night before the mayoral elections, May 2 at Broadwater Farm, Tottenham, (free for all local residents) and May 4 at The Troxy in Limehouse, featuring a live score by Asian Dub Foundation. If you haven’t seen it, this is a great chance to catch this classic on a big screen or give it a rewatch. Piers Garthwaite
