I have previously expressed about my worries that Olympic fever was yet to catch on in London as the ‘200 Days to go‘ moment came and went. There have since been some efforts to allay my fears. Then, the Blogmistress showed me these images from Martin Routledge’s book, ‘Olympics: A snapshot history of the Olympic Games’ and everything changed.
Routledge has taken photos of London shops and businesses using the Olympic name. It’s certainly heartening to know that you could go to and get an extremely unofficial Olympic car wash while you drive around peeved that you missed out on tickets to the Beach Volleyball. Worth mentioning that the book also documents the difficult legal territory businesses using the Olympic name find themselves in, with LOCOG working to ensure that only ‘official partners, sponsors, suppliers and licensees‘ use the words ‘Olympic’ or ‘London 2012’.
