Ophelia BlitzNext Monday May 7 sees this year’s London Burlesque Week kick off under the new name of the World Burlesque Games (unofficially, we think the change might have something to do with that other tournament planned for London this summer). You can read all about it in my latest column but if you can’t wait that long to get your tease on, we suggest you head over to Brick Lane’s East Gallery, where the new exhibition ‘A Brush with Burlesque’ (running May 3-13) is showcasing pieces by more than a dozen UK artists who take burlesque performers as their subject. Works range from oils and charcoal to graphic design and comic-book pastiche and you might even spot a familiar face or two – we’re rather partial to Ella Guru’s portrait of Ophelia Bitz (above) in ‘Queen of the Jungle’ mode… Ben Walters
