Banging tunes: this is the sound of…sport

Coca-Cola Beatbox Night

Stressed and at a loose end in central London? Why not take it out on Coca-Cola’s giant musical Olympic pillow – and before you ask, yes, that’s a thing. Designers Pernilla Ohrstedt, Asif Khan and their musical pillow are taking up residence at number 45 St Martin’s Lane until May 6 and they’re asking members of the public to help trial their ‘Beatbox’ before it’s assembled into the Olympic Park Pavilion. Comprised of sporting sounds compiled by superstar DJ and sunglasses aficionado Mark Ronson, the touch-activated noises crescendo into a veritable Olympic anthem, depending on the number of hands involved. In total five Olympic sports have been recorded – while archery remixed isn’t immediately obvious, the sounds of ping pong are surprisingly amusing. Drop in and give it a bash – literally.
