Joe Strummer shrine Kitty Finer

Ever wanted to render your appreciation for Joe Strummer into a tri-coloured piñata? Or found yourself yearning to stitch him an honorary rosette? Well dither no longer. This weekend, London-based artist Kitty Finer is launching Let’s Go Global A-Go-Go, an international fan-art project in fond memory of the late musical icon. Kitty is inviting fellow devotees to bear forth their offerings to a growing Strummer-shrine. Don’t balk though, the keynote here is celebration: less teary ritual mourning, more good-time arts and crafting. Kitty’s commemorative shrine will feature in the Strummer of Love Festival in rural Somerset later this summer, hosted by the Strummerville Foundation to mark the 10th anniversary of Joe’s passing. Join Kitty at the George Tavern this Sunday (12-10pm) where Strummer’s family and friends will be kickstarting the project with an afternoon of workshops and merriment. Will Davenport
