Remember when you were a kid and you were asked to pat your head while rubbing your tummy? Those were challenging times. So we’re sure most of you will have at one time watched open-mouthed as a one-man band busker somehow managed to sing, strum a guitar and play the accordion, all while keeping a steady rhythm with a kick-drum. And if you haven’t, then the Blues Kitchen in Camden has a great treat in store with their first ever Festival of One Man Bands (May 6-11). Cast away any thoughts of Dick Van Dyke in ‘Mary Poppins’ as these performers all have their roots firmly in Motown, blues and folk. For those of you still sceptical, there’ll also be the odd group band and solo artist to whet your appetite. Entry is free if you rock up before 9pm, any later and it’s just £5 a head. And, if you’re really keen, you can even buy a six-day VIP Pass that will guarantee you access to all six shows. Lisa Paul
