Cream teas on wheels in Camden Market
Wimbledon. Doubledecker buses. The Queen. A few things in life are quintessentially British, and the cream tea is one of them. So it’s nice to hear that, just in time for the Olympics and a summer of Diamond Jubilee celebrations, a mobile tea van has started delivering cream teas to the masses. Currently parked up in Camden Lock Place, Braithwaites is named in honour of the owner’s great-grandfather (apparently a great fan of the cream tea), and serves up freshly- baked scones with strawberry jam, Cornish clotted cream and Yorkshire tea, all for £4.99. There’s no fancy tea-room, but you’ll find alfresco seating in the market, or you can order take-away boxes for impromptu picnics, Tues-Fri 10.30am-5pm.
