Rather than sling together some slap-dash regal product, as many other retails have done, Fortum & Mason are proud to admit that they have been preparing for the jubilee for two whole years. Yes, you could grow a toddler in that time. The reward for their endeavour is all ours though; a huge street party will be happening between Piccadilly Circus and St James’s Street, and Fortnum & Mason will be presiding over the event, with a market stall selling commemorative Jubilee gifts like musical biscuit tins and Champagne truffles, plus the obligatory tea-towel. You can pre-order a picnic before midnight on May 31, with prices ranging from a relatively affordable £40 to a £200 number than only the Queen herself could afford. The £40 basket feeds two and includes treats like smoked salmon sandwiches and Eton Mess. On site is a Champagne and Tea Bar, where you can pick up Afternoon Tea for two, or if your tastes are a little less refined, a posh burger van will be parked outside the store. Let them eat minced steak! Grace Holliday
