If your bank holiday plans have got no further than vowing to never stray too far from a bar then pay close attention. Here’s our round-up of pubs and bars across the capital who are getting in on the act, flinging a few union flags about and cutting up the cucumber for a few bathtubs full of Pimms. All in the name of her majness, of course.
– The Sebright Arms in Bethnal Green will be hosting their all day/all night Jubilee party on Sunday. It’s free during the day and £3 after 9pm, with back to back reggae, soul, disco and hip hop banging tunes to help you celebrate having Monday off work. A sentiment very much supported by the Duke of Edinburgh in Brixton, who are laying on a two day garden party (Sunday and Monday). Not forgetting whose birthday it is, they are promising a £100 bar tab for whoever makes the best British themed hat. Get your thinking caps on for creative millinery.
– The George & Dragon on Hackney Road (see above) will be throwing its doors open early on Monday to allow plenty of time to get settled in before the evening’s entertainment – a live and interrupted screening of the Queen’s Jubilee Concert, beamed straight from Buck Pal. Also on Monday, The Lock Tavern will be flying the (union) flag for North London with their celebration of ‘60 years on the throne’. Slotting in nicely to its series of 10th birthday celebrations, this free all dayer is sure to attract crowds from Camden and beyond.
– If all that isn’t enough, the Queen of Hoxton will be carrying bravely on with their Jubilee Jamboree on Tuesday. The Shoreditch rooftop bar and kitchen will be open and serving up royally good burgers all day.
