Independence Day hot dog eating contest

Posted at 4:00 pm, July 3, 2012 in Food & Drink, Fun London

Blues Kitchen Hotdog Eating ContestFancy yourself as London’s answer to Joey Chestnut*? Then prepare to throw your hat in at Camden’s Blues Kitchen, which is once again hosting its own take on NYC’s famous Coney Island hot dog eating contest. To apply for one of the 20 slots, email info@theblueskitchen.com by July 3 (contestants will be chosen at random) – you’ll stand to win a £50 tab at the restaurant, but more importantly, a whole lotta glory. Rather just watch? Then head down by 7pm on July 4, grab a drink (free for US passport holders) and get ready to be delighted and disgusted in equal measure. The contest starts at 7.30pm and lasts for 30 minutes. Entry (for both contestants and spectators) is free.

* Joey ‘Jaws’ Chestnut holds the current world record for competitive hot dog eating, which stands at 66 (including buns) in 12 minutes.

For venue info, see Blues Kitchen listing.
