Hackney’s squatting past revealed
Everyone has different views on squatting. With Dale Farm and Occupy still fresh in everyone’s minds, it’s quite easy to forget that it’s not just a contemporary phenomenon. Melissa Bliss, artist and long-time Hackney resident, will be revealing the hidden history of Hackney’s squatting past on July 4, from the Middle Ages to the current rise in squatting today, during a 2hr walking tour. ‘Squatter and the Common Land’ will start at Hackney Museum at 6.15pm and costs £12 per person.
