We like the words ‘free’ and ‘beer’. Add ‘humour’, ‘history’ and ‘nibbles’, and you’ll definitely have us hooked. This evening (July 20), two of our favourite drinks experts, Tom Sandham and Ben McFarland, are heading to East Dulwich’s Great Exhibition pub to host the first of a pair of Belgian beer tastings. The event, which kicks off at 7pm, is completely free (though you’re advised to arrive early if you want a seat), and will see you sampling five different beers from the likes of Affligem Abbey, as well as specially-chosen nibbles such as a beer-friendly cheese and beer-based sausages. All with a healthy dose of wit and edu-ma-cation from Tom and Ben, whose recent performances of ‘A Thinking Drinker’s Guide to Alcohol’ at the Soho Theatre went down a storm.
If you can’t make it, you can register now for a place at next Thursday’s event (it’s still free), by visiting eventbrite – this time it’ll be at East Dulwich’s Draft House.
