The lesser sported Olympian…
If it’s good enough for Her Maj, it’s good enough for us. Charlotte Cory, the cult British artist whose work the Queen allegedly recently purchased to adorn the walls of Windsor Castle, has created a new collection of Olympic-inspired prints. The series, ‘The Sporting Champions’, comprises of 12 unique images in Cory’s signature photographic collage style. Transforming faded sepia photographs, the heads of yesteryear’s Olympians are swapped with those of stuffed animals, resulting in some rather pleasing juxtapositions. And for anyone eager to grab themselves a slice of Olympic glory, Cory has fashioned a range of quirky one-of-a-kind Victorian medals. You won’t find souvenirs like that in the Olympic Park gift shop. You can see the collection at The Green Parrot Gallery in Greenwich until September 30. Everything is for sale so even you can put one up your very own palace. Natalie Gil
