Cinematic London love-in

London: The Modern Babylon

The Olympics is over, but let’s hope the warm London fuzzy feeling continues for a little while longer. Danny Boyle started the London love-in, but Julien Temple’s great doc about the multicultural metropolis, ‘London: The Modern Babylon’ (in cinemas now and on iplayer), was also a clever contribution. Now we hear Temple is keeping the flame alive and making a similar film about Rio de Janeiro in time for the 2016 Games. The other Olympic link is that Temple is also set to make a biopic about The Kinks musicians Ray and Dave Davies (Ray performed ‘Waterloo Sunset’ at the closing on Sunday night). And what about Danny Boyle? We guess he’s on holiday now: a Time Out acquaintance spotted him on Sunday in the departures lounge at Stansted 12 hours before the Spice Girls took to the stage in Stratford. Let’s hope the London celebrations continue even though the flame has now cooled.
