Go Topless Protest

Airbrushed lingerie models, waxing, unsightly tan lines and arrests for indecent exposure; all things women have to endure. In a world seemingly striving for equality, one difference is still being ignored. Men are free to walk around supermarkets, catch the tube and swim in front of children baring their nipples and no one bats an eyelid, so why can’t women? This Sunday August 26 is International Go Topless Day and Londoners want to take a stand. At 12.30pm, protestors will be stripping off in Trafalgar Square before marching down Whitehall to Parliament Square, stopping off at Downing Street on the way to give David Cameron a mouth- and eye -ful. Female protestors are encouraged to go topless or wear red tape over their nipples and the men should don bikini tops in support. Pandering straight in to the hands of the red tops or a worthwhile feminist statement? You decide. Carly-Ann Clements
