There’s nothing quite like going to cinema. The anticipation of watching a film that’s been overhyped in the media, someone loudly whispering behind you, getting cramp half way through the movie and having to walk it off at the most critical time… it’s simply marvellous. Now, we’re not saying going to the cinema is a bad thing, far from it, but sometimes it’s nice to just stay at home, whack your favourite film on and relax with your friends. And what better excuse for a private screening than Home Cinema Day? Promoting communal film watching, the folks behind Scala Beyond are urging film watchers to share their favourite films with not only their loved ones but the rest of the nation too. Whether you’re simply watching your fave chick flick or hosting a film-themed cocktail party movie marathon, Home Cinema Day want to hear about it. To take part, all you have to do is share your communal film watching experience by tweeting, blogging or uploading photos using the hashtag #HCD2012 on September 1. So get creative, throw some Fried Green Tomatoes in the pan and find Someone to Eat Cheese With for a proper night of sharing. Carly-Ann Clements
