Taller, thinner, lighter: the new iPhone 5 is what we all want to be

iPhone 5

Last night in San Francisco (but beamed to a conference hall in King’s Cross), the iPhone 5 was revealed. Time Out was there. At first glance it looked just like a stretched iPhone 4S, but pick it up and the story changes. It’s amazingly thin (7.6mm from front to back, the thinnest smartphone in the world) and preposterously light. And it’ll be the first 4G phone to go on sale in the UK when it hits stores a week tomorrow on September 21. We’ll have an in-depth review soon, but for now, this looks like it could be another runaway success for Apple.

It’s bad news for our iOS developers, though, who’ve got to go off and stretch our almost absurdly useful iPhone app. What will we use those extra 176 rows of pixels for?  An anonymous source provided the leaked screenshot below, allegedly depicting a new feature allegedly titled The KittenBar – only time will tell if it makes it into our next update.

For now, you can download our currently kittenless iPhone app for free from the App Store and for more info on the new iPhone 5, see apple.com.
