The Thames has had a busy old summer. With the Diamond Jubilee Pageant, the Olympic Rings and Agitos watching over us from Tower Bridge and last week’s Thames Festival, you’d think that it’s about time we gave our little river a rest. But being the old faithful that she is, she’s ready and raring to go for tomorrow’s Great River Race. The annual river marathon is set to be a doozy with over 300 crews planning to take on the challenge, a special appearance from the majestic gilded barge, the Gloriana, and a couple Team GB rowing medallists to boot. The handicapped race will start with the slowest boats leaving Millwall Riverside at 10.40am with the faster boats leaving approximately an hour later. The race will run right along the river to Richmond where entertainment will be laid on from 12.30pm.
