While the glamour elite converge upon the catwalks of Fashion Week, London Design Festival is celebrating its 10th year with hundreds of exhibitions, talks and new products; so many in fact, that it’s enough to send your head spinning. To help you get to grips with the next 7 days, we’ve picked a few of the events we’re really excited about.

Step back in time in this imagined recreation of a modernist furniture collector’s home, forming a link between the tenets underpinning modernist design and the concerns of modern-day craftspeople.

 London Design Festival at the V&A

As the main hub of the festival, the V&A will host installations, exhibitions and events throughout the building. From chairs that mimic their environment to clouds of primary colours in illuminated tanks of water, there’s bound to be something to get your imagination running.

Can the current appetite in European design be the answer to our uncertain fiscal future? A panel of experts discuss the role of design, manufacturing and innovation and how they can help us out of the current recession.

The large black structure which is situated in Trafalgar Square provides an acoustically-isolated sound installation space, with performances from a range of artists that promises to be a complete contrast to the hustle and bustle of the London tourist site.

Every year, Tom Dixon transforms his waterside shop into an exhibition area. This year’s exhibition won’t just be launching Dixon’s Lustre collection, but will also feature  the designs from three prominent lighting designers.
