Still rocking up to work in board shorts and sunnies, blasting out Will Smith’s ‘Summertime’ and violently lashing out at anyone who dares to suggest that maybe – just maybe – it’s time to pack the Havaianas away for another year? If so, this ought to be music to your troubled ears – the UK Rumfest is back, bringing two days of spicy spirits, tropical grub and general sunshiny vibes to the Excel centre this weekend.

Now in its sixth year, the festival sees masters of the rum world converge to show off their boozy wares and celebrate Caribbean culture, with reggae, salsa and samba acts to check out in between talks and tastings. Elsewhere, there’s a bigger-than-ever tropical food market, showcasing the best of the region’s less intoxicating produce. So forget mulled wine – there’s still time for a few more mojitos before digging out your scarf and embracing your massive gas bill.
