Niall from One Direction’s squirrel nightmare

Death From Above.

It’s hard to feel sorry for One Direction, but just occasionally we take a step back and remember that they’re only very young and were somewhat catapulted into the stratospheres of stardom. Remember what happened to Britney Spears? She shaved her head and nigh-on forgot how to be a performer, and she had ten years to get used to the situation. It’s times like these, though, that it becomes apparent that One Direction are not necessarily equipped to deal with all of the dangers of adult life. No doubt they’ve been taught to just say no, to line their stomach before a night on the tiles, to never put wool in the dryer, but apparently they’re not prepared for how to handle wild animals. During playtime in Battersea Park last weekend 19-year-old Niall tore ligaments in his knee while running away from a squirrel, and ended up on crutches. Does he feel oppressed by London’s omnipresent pigeons? Do our city’s feral foxes slink into his nightmares? Best he never goes to Bushey Park – there’s no way he’d survive an attack from their feisty deer. Ashleigh Arnott
