Date my iPod: go speed listening

Posted at 12:00 pm, October 18, 2012 in Music & Nightlife

speed listeningAs a wise old man once said, ‘If music be the food of love, play on’. The Notewell’s ‘Speed Listening’ events take Shakespeare’s premise pretty literally: think speed dating but with music. You have seven minutes to impress a prospective date with your mp3 player filled with your favourite (or what you assume will be someone else’s favourite) tunes and vice versa, in the hope of winding up in a rump shaking, salsa swinging, loin locking scene not dissimilar to the infamous Dirty Dancing watermelon debauchery. Taking place on every third Thursday of the month (tonight!) at The White Horse pub (not to be confused with the strip club, or you may end up with a different sort of date entirely), tickets cost just £5 and include homemade cake. So charge your iPods, untangle your headphones, clean out the earwax and get ready to meet your musically matched mistress… or just a London-based gig buddy! Emma McWhinney
