Time Out’s expert reviewers anonymously visit many hundreds of new bars, gastropubs, cafés, casual dining restaurants and temples of gastronomy every year, to sort the wheat from the chaff and bring the best places to your attention (for the best of the very newest openings, see here). So what do we do with all this information? We put it on our website. We publish an annual restaurant guide too – just out this week – for which we also revisit all of the longer-established places too, to bring those reviews bang up to date (both in print and online). But our panel of Food & Drink Editors also discuss the highlights of the year, draw up shortlists of the best new venues of the last year and then revisit these finalists, anonymously and paying our way as always, to pick out the best of the best. Our highlights include the best New Beer Bars, the Best New Cheap Eats, the Best New Restaurant, and five other categories from Best No-Booking Restaurants to Best New Meat Restaurant. Guy Dimond
