We’ve all heard the bone shuddering facts, the exaggerated statistics and the unbelievable urban legends but there’s a whole lot more to discover about the world of rats than some of us would like to admit. Whether you believe in the luck-bringing Rat Queen or think they’re just filthy, plague-carrying vermin, rats are a part of London life we can’t avoid. Supposedly, we’re never more than 20 feet from one at any time making the phrase ‘know thy neighbour’ ring truer than ever. Lucky for you, we know exactly how you can do it without inviting one around for tea. Join Folklore Society member, Paul Cowdell at Tradwell’s Bookshop tonight from 7.15pm as he discusses the resilient, intelligent and sometimes clairvoyant rodents and even share a magic spell that will rid your home of the sneaky scamps. Entrance costs £7 but that’s a small price to pay for a wealth of dinner party conversation and a rat-free home for life. Carly-Ann Clements
