There were sharp intakes of breath in the more highbrow corners of the film community earlier this year when Orson Welles’s groundbreaking 1941 masterpiece ‘Citizen Kane’ – one of the wittiest, boldest, most purely enjoyable films of all time – was finally toppled from its perch by Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘Vertigo’ as the Greatest Movie Ever Made, according to the educated voters of Sight & Sound magazine’s ten-yearly poll. Well, number two in movie history certainly ain’t bad (and there are lots of us who believe ‘Vertigo’ isn’t fit to lick Kane’s snowglobes anyway). But why not decide for yourself by entering Time Out’s free draw and grabbing a pair of tickets to see a beautifully restored ‘Citizen Kane’ at the Prince Charles Cinema this Sunday November 18. We’ll even throw in a free drink to sweeten the deal.
