In pictures: Twihards takeover Leicester Square

The end is nigh. For seven years, the Twilight books and films have been been insanely popular – whether you’re a Twihard or a Twihater, it’s been difficult to avoid. However, it’s become quite literally hard to avoid in the case of anybody who has to walk through Leicester Square this week as fans have been camping out to see their idols at the premiere of the final film tonight since last Saturday. We went down to see what all the fuss was about…

Leicester Square has become something of a Twilight farm, with waiting fans trapped inside cages…

…before being herded from pen to pen…

…which was awaiting its own moment of glory when we saw it this morning.

Many fans had made posters to express their love for R-Patz, K-Stew and T-Laut…

…and some had even travelled from abroad (and were keen to let everyone know)…

…these guys were from Hungary, and also seemed to be very hungry…

…but most of all, they were just extremely excited to see their vampiric idols breeze past for all of two seconds.

The cold hadn’t deterred the Twihards (many hadn’t actually slept for the past week). For them the countdown to the final film was lasting as long as it was for the Twihaters, a bloomin eternity.
