Ping pong is currently ‘in’. It’s so trendy that whole bars dedicated to it have popped (pinged?) up all over London, where drunken ping pong is becoming the norm for a night out. However, the more hardened table tennis fan might fancy the challenge of having a go playing ping pong on a corrugated iron table. Where can you do this? At the Hayward Gallery at 6pm this evening, where Instant Ping Pong Pack, which allows you to create a ping pong table out of anything you like, is being launched. Play on Wang Jianwei’s ‘Surplus Value’, a ping pong table installation that is part of the Hayward’s Current exhibition of young Chinese art, or challenge the Pongbot.  It’s free, so there’s no excuse not to get yourself down there for a wiff and a waff.
