George Galloway and Lee JasperYou’ve heard of Simon and Garfunkel, Chas and Dave, Gilbert and Sullivan… Galloway and Lee? Not yet perhaps. But surely it’s only a matter of time before Respect politicians George Galloway and Lee Jasper are topping the charts. The pair have launched a sultry campaign ad supporting Jasper’s bid as the Respect party’s candidate in the Croydon North by-election on November 29 and backed by a throbbing bass and backing singers, and sounding like Dundee’s answer to Isaac Hayes, Galloway, the MP for Bradford West, croons, ‘I believe in peace, justice, and equality… and Lee Jasper’, before Jasper pipes in with an old-school reggae MC: ‘If you’re tired of the same old same old, the crooks and the fraudsters… if you’re tired of the MPs’ scandals and phone-hacking scandals… Respect yourself. Respect north Croydon. Vote Lee Jasper.’ Galloway adds the parting refrain, ‘They talk about stop and search… It’s the MPs they should be stopping and searching. And even some of the po-lice…’ Bring on those gold medallions, open-necked shirts and hairy chests boys. Rebecca Taylor
