Mixed news for anyone who’s been enjoying/resenting the ability to surf the t’interweb on the tube, as Virgin Media today announced a deal that will allow registered Vodafone, EE, Orange and T-Mobile customers to use the service for free from January. Everyone else will have to start buying daily, weekly and monthly passes starting from £2 a day if they want to peruse their Facebook page at any of the 72 wi-fi stations. Plans are also afoot to extent the network to a further 48 stations by the year’s end. Virgin Media won the contract to provide wi-fi on the Underground after they provided free connectivity during the Olympics. Jonno Hopkins
